Exhaust Brake FAQ:

Q: What is an exhaust brake?
An exhaust brake is a device that creates back pressure due to the restriction of exhaust flow. This back pressure is very effective in providing braking assistance. While an exhaust brake does not replace the vehicle's brake system, proper use of an exhaust brakewill eliminate most of the severe service strain and excess wear on the regular brakes and extend their life many times over.

Q: What is Turbo-Brake?
Turbo-Brake is an all-electronic exhaust brake. No modifications to the exhaust system are necessary. It is designed specifically for use on the Ford Powerstroke Diesel Engine.

Q: How does the Turbo-Brake effect my Ford vehicle warranty?
The Turbo-Brake has no effect on your Ford warranty. There is no altering of any original factory installed parts, such as, the exhaust system. Also, the Magnuson-Moss federal law prohibits vehicle manufacturers from voiding their warranties due to the addition of safety or performance devices. In fact, in order to deny a warranty claim, the manufacturer must prove that the aftermarket item actually caused a failure to the vehicle.

Q: Does Turbo-Brake have any effect on my turbo or exhaust?
While the Turbo-Brake is an exhaust brake by definition, it is a whole new concept since the Turbo-Brake is all electronic and does not install anywhere in your exhaust system. Therefore, when the Turbo-Brake is not engaged, it does not restrict the flow of your exhaust system in any way. Your entire exhaust system will actually run cooler when the Turbo-Brake is engaged. Also, since the exhaust system is not blocked as it is with most other exhaust brakes, your engine will start and idle normally even with the Turbo-Brake operating.

Q: Will the back pressure damage my engine?
Turbo-Brake will not create excessive back pressure and therefore will not damage any of the engine components. Ford has built in a pressure relief system that is fool proof.

Q: I live in a quiet neighborhood and I am concerned about the noise.
Turbo-Brake does not make a loud exhaust noise. Due to the fact that the Turbo-Brake is not an engine compression release brake, it is quiet and legal to operate in all states.

Q: How will it effect my cruise control?
Turbo-Brake is designed to operate with cruise control. Unlike most other exhaust brakes, the Turbo-Brake does not fight with the cruise control and is "cruise control friendly".

Q: What about reliability?
The Turbo-Brake comes with a limited lifetime warranty.

Q: How difficult is it to install?
The level of difficulty is equivalent to that of a fog light or simple radio installation. Turbo-Brake fits under the dash and is designed to be installed by most any do-it-yourselfers in about an hour. No special tools are required. A wires have a connector already attached, simply match up the color and numbers and place them together. Instructions are simple step by step and included photos as well. Carb Conn also does installs. Call for more information.

Q: What if the Turbo-Brake doesn't do what you say it will?
Turbo-Brake has a No-Hassle 30-day full refund policy. If you return the Turbo-Brake, at your expense, and in new condition with all seals intact, you will receive a full refund. It's just that simple to order with confidence.
